Identity, Interiors, Product, Signage
ARFH, hotels, SA
We were asked to design the interiors of the common areas of a new hotel, a 4 star superior, located in Lisbon (Picoas), designed by the architect Frederico Valsassina.
The work was carried out in constant dialogue with the architect and the company responsible for the interiors of the rooms.
The project began to be thought by us from the beginning, we were asked to propose naming, graphic identity and stationary for the hotel, bar and restaurant, as well as the building's signage.
The intention was to reinforce Lisbon's identity, so the project started with a concept that was later shared by all partie.
The objective was to give the personality of the city of Lisbon without falling into clichés. Thus, the defined concept was the light of Lisbon. The climate, the topography and the use of limestone (white stone) in the buildings and especially in the floors, combine to give us the luminosity that is so characteristic of Lisbon. But the magic moment is undoubtedly at the end of the day, when the low sun envelops the city in a warm and golden tone, a moment that we set out to capture and “translate” in the most diverse ways, in spaces, materials, furniture, etc.
In the design of the graphic identity, we opted for a linear and curved typography for the logos, focusing on the thinnest weights, thus emphasizing a “line of light”. In the stationary applications, we added color patches, according to the defined palette, in the form of a gradient to suggest a luminous environment.
In the restaurant, we proposed the name CLOROFILA, due to its relationship with light but also with the green area of the outdoor patio. We therefore added green to the chromatic palette, in the interiors and furniture in this location.
A three-dimensional ceramic was chosen to cover some walls, yellow for the reception and lounge, green for the restaurant. Colors reflect other shades nearby, thus contributing to the desired environment.
Lines of light that cross the space were designed, such as in the lounge, in the corridors and on the stairs.
An outdoor space was designed, on the terrace, with a red mosaic insert in the pool for the continuation of a personalized and “warm” environment.
The parking was also thought out, with the same chromatic palette and the wall numbers in an unfolding, like a refraction of light.
