Assembleia da República
The space in front of the Assembly of the Republic is undoubtedly a stage for all those who wish to be seen and heard. In the same spirit, we wanted this exhibition to be as visible and as widely heard as possible. This led to the idea of an outdoor exhibition, where the Constitution is presented through the voices of different sectors of society — from visual arts and poetry to social welfare, philosophy, history, architecture, religion and more.

Like the citizens who make their voices heard outside Parliament, large red totems boldly proclaim that THE WORD IS THE PLACE. The selected artworks also speak of issues that concern us all as citizens.

The exhibition aims to be truly inclusive and open to everyone. Above all, it invites those who pass through this space every day to reflect on and discuss the principles enshrined in the Constitution.

Words also take shape through works of art and the ideas of artists and thinkers who use language as a medium for their work and expression, recognising its power as a force for transformation.
