Pedra Silva Arquitectos
The architecture studio Pedra Silva Arquitectos, responsible for the interior design for the new Uralchem headquarters (a world leading ammonium nitrate producer) in Moscow, challenged us to think in partnership the space and to design the signage system.
A strong link between architecture and graphic design was assumed, and the circular shape was defined as the key element.
For this project, a rounded sans serif typeface was chosen (VAG Rounded Cyrillic) and a custom version of its numbers was designed, along with a custom pictogram family, in order to reinforce the "circular mood" of the graphic language.
The directional signage disc layouts along the corridors provide the necessary orientation to the users of this space while maintaining a formal coherence with the discs and lights on the ceiling of the different areas.
These custom numbers were applied on a large scale to the glass walls of each office room, together with graphics in order to create some opacity/privacy.
Also in the lounge, a graphic intervention was designed to help create a relaxing environment for the company's employees. In these compositions we used burel discs to also serve as acoustic absorption.
